 A couple of pics from HUP's first show last night at Nivara Lounge. Some great bands played 30 minute sets before an audience of around 70 people. I.E. Crazy kicked off the night with a beautiful set of dark, stark songs which drew you in the more you listened. Man In Rug followed with some seriously delicious post punk/post rock inspired goodness. Ancient Tapes ended its brief existence with some noisy indierock, then Carb on Carb ended the evening with a fantastically energetic selection of tunes from their latest LP, winning over quite a few new fans which resulted in a flurry of activity at the merch stand with T-shirts and CDs in hot demand. Overall a really great night. Thanks to all that came out and had fun!

  On Saturday May 30th, some neat bands are playing in Hamilton. Carb on Carb, Ancient Tapes, IE Crazy and will play two shows.
The first is at 2pm, at Creative Waikato on Alexandra Street, and will cost $5 to get in. The second show includes Man In Rug and starts at 9pm at Nivara Lounge, entry is $10. If you go to both shows it will cost $10 only. The shows are Ancient Tapes final ones, and all the other bands are really really reeeeeeally good. RS  Hamilton Underground Press is very proud to announce that we are bringing Auckland's quite tremendous HDPSNS to town for a show on Saturday July 18th, as part of an eight date tour to support the release of their new album, /ˈen(d)ˌɡām/ . You can listen to one of the first tracks from the album, 'Archipelago', here. Also playing on the night will be Hamilton's fantastic and somewhat legendary alt-rockers Rumpus Room. The multitalented Hide and Tallow completes the bill on what should be a great evening. Entry is $10 on the door, first band 9pm. |
