HUP is excited to announce initial details for Future City Festival 2019! Around 20 bands and artists will appear at CBD venues across two nights. The action kicks off around 7pm on Friday March 8th at Nivara Lounge and ZEAL, then continues on Saturday March 9th at Nivara Lounge and The Meteor. Initial Lineup Headlining the festival on Saturday March 9th at The Meteor Theatre will be the incredible Nadia Reid, who has recently returned from recording her third LP in North America. Nadia and her full band played an incredible sold-out show in Hamilton earlier this year, at the Waikato Waldorf School Hall, as part of a nationwide tour. This time around Nadia will be playing in the as a duo, with guitarist and regular co-conspirator Sam Taylor as seen below on the BBC's 'Later with Jools Holland' programme. An exciting range of bands and artists from across Aotearoa will light up the multi-genre festival, including Carb on Carb (Akl), Te Huhu (Akl), Tidal Rave (Wgtn), Distance (Wgtn), Troika (Chch), and Sit Down In Front (Gbn). They are joined by fantastic local talent in the shape of Hamilton bands Landlords, Cartoon Villain and Bitter Defeat. Around 10 more bands and artists will be added to the bill in the coming weeks.
