Future City Festival: A Q and A with Rubita

​Like milk to kittens, we have been feeding questions to bands playing at this year's FUTURE CITY FESTIVAL. This time around, we hear back from Rubita!
 
HUP: Tell us about Rubita!
Rubita: The Rubita Band consist of Luke Kibblewhite (saxophone), Seth Clement (drums), Hon Man (bass guitar) and Rubita (a.k.a., Rachel Kibblewhite; guitar and vocals). The Rubita Band is the project of Rachel Kibblewhite, and started when she returned from her studies in Dunedin. Since being in multiple bands while in Dunedin, she decided to create her own band with cousin Luke, university friend Seth and Auckland music school student Hon. The Rubita Band is currently based in Auckland and Hamilton.
 
HUP:  How would you describe your band to someone that hasn’t heard you before?
Rubita: If a Toucan on steroids flew into a bar and ordered a multi coloured cocktail - it would be called a Rubita.
 
HUP: What is our favourite song to play live?
Rubita: Told Ya So.

HUP: Tell us about the best gig you’ve ever been to… (playing or not playing)
Rubita: Playing on a stage near the beach in a mud bath with people doing mud booms around you.
 
HUP: Who are you most looking forward to seeing at Future City 2018?
Rubita: Can't wait to see System Corporation and The Datsuns!
 
HUP: Give us your best Hamilton fact or story!
Rubita: Rubita Band is very much born and breed in The Tron :)
